The FREVUE project partners who met in Rotterdam on October 22 -23, 2014 reported good progress putting EV into city logistics in the eight FREVUE locations: from 10 electric vans making postal deliveries in Lisbon, to 2 electric cranes as part of a new Consolidation Centre for Construction in Stockholm, to electric beer deliveries in and around Rotterdam. The harmonious cooperation of the FREVUE team (comprised of logistics partners, city officials, grid operators and researchers from 8 European countries) in their efforts to reduce emission was reflected at the FREVUE partner dinner. Everyone happily sang along with the FREVUE song, which was composed for the occasion by Rotterdam coordinator Jos Streng.. You can download the lyrics below.
The 40+ partner meeting in Rotterdam concluded on October 23 with a visit to the Heineken Beverage distribution centre in Rotterdam. From there, the 19 ton EV truck, which is part of the Heineken distribution fleet, serves pubs and restaurants in and around the city. Ciske Zaal, senior project manager logistics, explained the EV operations at Heineken (see photo). He stressed the the appreciation of his clients of the fact that the EV truck is not driving off roaringly, leaving their clients on the terrace in a cloud of diesel fumes.
